Sciatica is the compression of the sciatic nerve itself or compression of the nerve which gives rise to the sciatic nerve. It may result in pain in the lower back, buttock and outer aspect of the leg.
Sciatica can be very painful and may leave the sufferer unable to work for short periods.
Poor foot posture, such as foot pronation (flat feet, pes planus) or foot supination (high arch or pes cavus) can contribute to sciatica symptoms. Leg length differences and changes to pelvic position may also affect sciatica. Any of these biomechanical inaccuracies may alter activity of the muscles surrounding the hip and pelvis and this may compress the sciatic nerve.Contact us
