How To Relieve Pain In Arch of Foot

  • March 23, 2015
  • Arch Pain, Foot Pain

MetatarsalgiaPain in arch of foot is a very common problem for millions of people worldwide who are suffering from this ailment every single day. Whether it’s arch pain, heel pain, bunion pain, big toe pain, little toe pain or anything else in between, sore feet are no fun! It’s no denying that if your feet aren’t right, you feel out of sorts!

There are a number of conditions that can affect the health of your foot. Ill-fitting shoes, blisters, corns, calluses, and tough footwear are just a number of the reasons why you might be suffering from pain in the arch of foot. When your feet hurt you can relieve with a number of options:

Foot massage

Try contacting a specialist for а foot massage, if уоu саnnot manage to gіve уoursеlf оne. Stroke уour foot wіth уour thumb frоm thе base оf уоur heel to уоur toes. Focus on the sole of the foot. Stroking the soles оf thе foot going in straight lines. Fоllоwіng thе soles hаvе bееn properly massaged, уоu саn proceed tо the top, middle аnd thе toes оf thе foot. Use a gentle motion to massage your toes, stretching them until the soreness goes away. Usе уour thumbs to put pressure іn the sole оf уour foot, slowly going frоm thе toes tо thе heel.

Wear Supportive Footwear

Spend the money it takes to get proper fitting and quality footwear with good arch supports. Most sufferers of fallen arches and plantar fasciitis are born with high arches that sag as they get older. Good footwear can prevent this from becoming a problem. Flat feet, however, can become just as problematic. So, really we should all be wearing good footwear to avoid this potentially painful condition.

Orthotics

Special insoles to support the arch of the foot can provide some much-needed help. You can have these specially made and custom fit for your feet. It can take a while to get just the right one for your foot, but sometimes it can be just what you needed.

Weight Control

Maintaining a sensible diet with your ideal weight can be beneficial in many ways. It makes sense to think that the more weight your arches are supporting, the more easily they will fall and become painful.

If the problem with the pain in the arch of the foot persists, it is recommended that you contact a The Foot and Leg Clinic to find an underlying problem.

Mhairi is an excellent clinician who I've had the pleasure of working with over the last few years. I have no hesitation in referring my clients with orthotic needs to her. She understands the complexities found in our client group - people with neurological conditions such as stroke - and we have successfully worked together to make significant changes to several people's posture, comfort and walking ability. She provides a very thorough and high quality service and I would highly recommend her services.

18months ago I tore a muscle in my leg while running (and stupidly finishing) a marathon. It was fairly bad and I was off my feet and work for a while. I didn’t think I would manage a marathon again or any decent running. Thanks to the amazing knowledge and skills of Mhairi at The Foot and Leg clinic (and a bit of sports physio) I managed to get back on my feet and within 8 months got back to marathon running. Everything that was recommended has worked and every penny I’ve spent has been worth it. It’s reasonably priced and if you have a foot or leg problem it’s definitely worth a visit.

Sorted out many years of back pain by making me customised shoe inserts. I've also had follow up therapy. Mhairi is very good at what she does and passionate about her work. Cannot recommend her practice enough
