Abi Johnstone

Abi joined the clinic after graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a BSc (First-Class Honours) in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

She began her career as an engineer, completing an MEng in Product Design Engineering in 2005, before developing a strong interest in human biomechanics. This led her back to further study, including a Sports Therapy HND, alongside building her experience in sports coaching, ultimately bringing her into Orthotics and Prosthetics, where she combines technical problem-solving with practical, person-centred approach.

Outside the clinic, Abi coaches sport, trains, and competes internationally in Kettlebell Sport with the Scottish National Team. She has competed for over 12 years and is a multiple World Gold medallist, with several world records to her name.

Abi is also an active member her local Mountain Rescue Team and volunteers her time with Scottish Women in Sport, supporting opportunities for female athletes across Scotland.

With her personal experience in Sports Coaching combined with her gentle, kind manner towards patients, Abi is a great fit for treating sports injuries as well as those less active or struggling with their mobility who may then require leg supports such as Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs), Knee Braces, Upper Limb Braces.
