Trouble with big toe pain?

Are you frustrated with the ongoing pain of the big toe joint in association with a bunion? Do you dislike the appearance of your bunion? Have you noticed your bunion getting bigger? Are you beginning to notice pain in other joints of the foot and leg? Have you tried lots of different ways to get rid of this pain following suggestions from lots of people? Are you confused as to why you have a bunion and all the related bunion issues but your friends don’t?

There are numerous reasons for pain in the big toe joint and we can help with diagnosis and treatment.

Most big toe pain relates to arthritis of the big toe although this is not always as bad as it sounds. “Wear and tear”/degeneration of the larger joint of the hallux (big toe) is common and happens slowly over a number of years, when one abnormally loads the big toe.

Poor function of the big toe joint can also results in an array of injuries of the foot and ankle as well as the knee or hip.

Most often degeneration of the big toe joint is related to an over-pronated foot and therefore we urge anyone to arrange a Foot and Ankle Assessment to ensure their foot is of reasonable posture with little abnormal loading being applied to the big toe joint and therefore causing pain and degeneration.

There are so many reasons for pain within the big toe and this is no surprise considering that this joint is responsible for propelling the body forward at push off and stabilising the leg.
